Absolutely! If you do not see a size listed, it is very likely we can build it.
Yes. You may order a unit and we can drop it off for you. Keep in mind there are no installation instructions as our skilled contractors have been trained at the factory to install these units. We recommend that the installer install the unit, for best results.
Certainly. We can provide you with framed openings for your customer doors, windows, vents, and other items. IF you can provide the rough-in dimensions, we will build and trim the framed opening for you. We will not install a door, window, or other item that you purchase.
Specification Questions
For most of our service area, the warranty is:
- Certified Vertical Roof Units have a lifetime limited warranty.
- The frame on all units, both 12 and 14 gauge have a 20-year rust through warrenty.
- Painted steel panels and trim on all units have 10-year limited warranty.
- Workmanship warranty is one year from the installation date.
Dimensions are always listed as width x length x height and they pertain to the roof length. For example, a 20’x21’x7’ unit is 20’ Wide x 21’ Long (at the roof) and 7’ tall on the side of the unit. The roof is 1’ longer than the base so the dimensions at the base are 20’ Wide x 20’ long.
We have two gauges of framing systems. The standard 14 gauge frame is a galvanized 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square steel tube. The 12 gauge frame is a galvanized 2 1/4" x 2 ¼ square steel tube".
The wall thickness of the 12 gauge frame system is 3 hundredths of an inch thicker.
29 gauge steel panels are standard in all areas except Florida. The 26 gauge is used in Florida and in most areas, 26 gauge is available as an upgrade.
For the Vertical Roof System, the unit can be as long as you need. The for Regular Style Roof System and the Boxed Eave Roof System, 36’ is the longest roof length that we will build.
Call your local building inspections or planning department and they can advise is you need a building permit. If you need a building permit, in almost every case, you will need a certified building.
A certified unit is engineered for specific wind and snow loads. A non-certified unit is not rated for wind and snow. A certified unit typically employs a more substantial anchor system and additional structural frame components compared to a non-certified unit. Should you need a building permit for your unit, you will also need the engineer certified unit.
We do not provide rain gutters for any of our units.

For best results, yes. Out installation teams can install carports with the job site not level within 3-4”. For garages, it is imperative that the site be level. If the installation team arrives and the site is not within these tolerances, the unit would have to be returned to the factory. There will be a return trip fee added to your order. Please have the site level when the crew arrives.

As long as your site is level, free from obstructions, and we can easily get to the job site, then the price that we quote you includes the unit, delivery, and installation. That price is subject to your state and local sales taxes, where applicable.
Yes, the photos that you see on our website are installs that we have provided for customers. You can make any changes that you need. Of course, with changes, the price can increase or decrease.
All of the colors that we offer on the website are the same price.
Certainly. Customers can make changes up until the time we have the unit to be scheduled for installation and delivery.
The Metal Carports Direct ordering process is simple and straightforward. Whether you are purchasing your building online or you’re working with one of our knowledgeable representatives, the process is essentially the same. Once you have selected the building that you need, a down payment is required to get your order started. For orders under $1500.00, a down payment of 10% is required. For orders that are $1500 to $4000.00, a down payment of 12% is required and for order more than $4000.00, a 15% down payment is required. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, PayPal and wire transfers. We can accept company or personal checks but those checks must clear, usually requiring 5-10 business days, before your order is processed. We can accept purchased orders and those should be submitted to us for approval. Be advised that orders for more than $15,000 require a larger down payment.
Construction Questions
Ensure that the site is level and clear of obstructions. The crew will need easy access to the job site and must be locate their transportation within 50’ of the site. IF we cannot be in close proximity to the job site, and additional labor fee will apply.
We can install most units on the ground, gravel, asphalt, and concrete. For some smaller units, we can also install in wood. We cannot engineer certify installations on wood and additional labor fees may apply.
No. However, we can provide and drop off the material for installation by someone other than our crew.
Anchoring Questions
Several ways:
- Non-Certified units on asphalt or ground utilize 30” long rebar anchor.
- Non-Certified units on concrete use concrete expansion anchors.*
- Non-Certified units wood or deck use lag bolts. In some areas, the customer may or may not have to supply those.
- Certified Units on the ground utilize a helix-type mobile home anchor that is augured into the ground.
- Certified units on concrete use concrete expansion anchors.*
- * We provide the anchors for all concrete installation. J-bolts or anchors installed by the customer make for a difficult installation. Please do not install those.
Other Options
With our units, there are several available options.
The side walls of the unit can be completely open or customers can add one or more panels can be placed on the side wall. Each side can be closed to the ground for additional protection from the elements. The addition of panels to the side walls makes the carport more rigid and adds strength to the unit, end-to-end, by tying the side wall posts together.
The end walls of the unit can be left completely open or customers can choose to add optional gable ends, extended gables, or the unit can be closed to the ground. Gables add to the curb appeal of the unit, hiding the roof structural components. End options also provide additional as well as make the structure stronger and more rigid, side-to-side.
All steel panels on the side wall and end wall are left un-trimmed on the bottom. J-trim can be added to the bottom of the panels for both appearance and for safety. We recommend J-trim on any panel edge that is 3′ – 7′ in clearance height and will be exposed to foot-traffic.
With garages, there are several available options in which to customize your unit
We offer roll-up doors up from 6’ wide to 6’ tall to 12’ wide x 12’ tall.
We have 36” x 80” walk-in doors, with or without windows in the door
All single pane in 30” x 30”
We can customize units by adding interior walls across the width of the unit or down the length of the unit
We can create open or partially enclosed porches on the ends of your unit
We offer lean-tos that are attached to the center or main structure, up to 12’ wide
